Whitsunday Micro Wedding Trend
Intimate wedding. Micro wedding. Elopement. Whatever you call it, smaller wedding celebrations are skyrocketing and it’s easy to see why.
As any couple knows, the fewer wedding guests the lower the wedding cost, and that’s because food and beverage are one of the largest costs of any wedding. But did you know, venue costs here in the Whitsundays can also be less if you have fewer guests?
Because the Whitsundays are so versatile, many of our wedding venues have multiple ceremony and reception options catering to various size groups. For example, Coral Sea Resort has four reception locations! And their iconic Jetty is perfect for an intimate group of around 40 or less. Sorrento Restaurant and Bar also has multiple locations to dine within their oceanfront restaurant and Sorrento’s has a special all-inclusive wedding package, just $5,000 for 20 guests. You can find the specifics HERE.

With all of your extra savings from having a smaller guest list, you have the opportunity to splash out on something special (or several somethings). You could surprise your other half with fireworks, extend your bar tab, set the scene with elaborate décor and styling, wow your guests with a sunset cruise or spoil yourselves by taking your dream honeymoon.

And if budget isn’t a main concern, intimate weddings can also allow you to have a bit more choice. Nearly every wedding venue and restaurant here in the Whitsundays can cater for 20 guests, but they all won’t be able to cater for 150 guests. Aside from those mentioned above other fabulous intimate wedding locations include Boathaven Beach, Headland Park, Whitsunday Sailing Club Pavilion, Freedom Shores, Palm Bay on Long Island, or Elysian on Long Island.

The best part is having an intimate wedding here in the Whitsundays means you get to celebrate the first day of the rest of your lives together as a married couple sooner rather than later. A smaller guest list is easier to plan and manager in today’s Covid climate. If you were hoping to travel overseas for your big day, you could hold your micro wedding in the Whitsundays, which is a tropical paradise in itself, and then travel overseas for your one-year anniversary. Or if you still dream about a large celebration, then you can do this for your one-year anniversary and without the stress of it being your wedding day!
